One of Panthera Africa’s main purposes is to be an educational platform where we create awareness about the conditions big cats face in captivity, and how animal welfare and enrichment plays a vital role in giving them the best captive life possible. We are a true sanctuary where no cub petting, breeding or trading takes place.
On our educational visits you have the chance of capturing photographs of the big cats in their beautiful Natural homes, and get to know about their unique stories, in addition to the important facts about the species and their different situations. We strongly believe in the importance of educating you about animal welfare and conservation, so together with a staff member you will be taken for a lovely walk whilst admiring the beautiful cats.
We ask you kindly to arrive 15 minutes prior to your visit.
We look forward to sharing our dream with you, and to introducing you to our four legged friends!

Panthera Africa Big Cat Sanctuary
8/10 according to my son, who said he wished to have seen the tigers better. The tour was age appropriate and enjoyed. Great that there is a shorter tour available for younger children. Let us know when your open day is. Thank you - Jessica
Excellent & informative visit -the kids loved it and will remember their experience here. - Franchesca
We learnt so much, facts about animals we never realized. Our guide was 10 out of 10, she related well to the group, her knowledge was top class. Overall an experience not to be missed, we hope to make another visit soon. Thank you for an unforgettable experience - Marlene
The thing which most impacted me was the extraordinary determination and passion of the person who envisaged and then was able to motivate the resources to create the sanctuary. The power of one can be amazing. One could wishbto see more of the cats while appreciating they are not on display in limited cages as in a zoo. Definitely educational and the children enjoyed it.the comparison of the weight of a tiger with the bodies of 8 children struck home. - Mary
We enjoyed the tour and the information provided by the tour leader. The cats are magnificent and it's hard to believe they can be so badly treated before arrival at Panthera. Well done to the rescuers. - Gary
